Logo Reveal

Here is a logo reveal created in Adobe After Effects and using Element 3D and Opitcal Flares.

Meteor crashing into water

This is a video clip I made of a meteor crashing into water.  I used Mocha AE to track the footage, which is from Videoblocks and multiple copies of Trapcode Particular for the meteor smoke trail.  Some clips from Action Essentials of water splashes were used for the impact, along with some shockwaves from the Shockwave Particle FX pack, which were used to simulate waves.

Globe on fire

This was inspired by a fire pit I saw on Shipping Wars.  The globe is an extruded spline that has the bend modifier applied to it in 3DS Max, then exported as an OBJ file to be used in Element 3D.  I used several copies of the Element 3D layer as Z-depth passes to get the fire and smoke to appear in the centre of the globe.

Sunset Photo Edit

The other day I took some photos of a sunset and then wanted to see what I could come up with, by changing colours, adding elements, to see where it took me.

This is what I came up with using Adobe After Effects.

This is the original picture, although I have removed some telephone wires but that is all.

Starting to mess around with colour.

A bit extreme this one.  Dark and some of the detail is lost.

This one I used the ramp effect with colorama set to overlay, then added some buildings with element 3d.

These ones I just decided to have a bit more fun with!

Continuum Hand Interface

This effect is inspired by the hand interface seen on the TV show Continuum, the VFX on the show are created by Artifex Studios.  I saw the effect on the pilot episode of Continuum and since then wanted to have a go at recreating it myself.  I used Mocha for AE to track the hand and Holomatrix from Red Giant Software for the holographic look.  I think it turned out ok, it’s not as good as what is on the show which impresses me each episode.

Gamepad Morph Animation

This is an animation of gamepads morphing from one to another.  Starting with the gamepad for the NES and finishing with the gamepad for the PS4.  The order may not be correct and I probably missed some out, but these are the ones that stick out in my mind.  I used the Boris Continuum Video Morph plugin for After Effects to create the morphing from one gamepad to another.  It was fun to create and I learned that the more time I spent setting up masks the better the morph would turn out.  It was also interesting to see the progression of gamepads with just a D-pad and 2 buttons to a D-pad with several buttons and other features.

Lenticular Animation

Here is a Lenticular  type of animation using the LayerSplitter script from batchframe.com.

I split up the image into 20 strips and angled them in 3d space to make one side, I angled the other image strips in the opposite direction.  So when the camera moved left or right the two images would be revealed.

Cubes

Here is another After Effects Doodle, this time with cubes.  I didn’t have a plan of what I wanted to do or to end up with, I  started with the lights and tracing of a cube and the rest just followed.

Animated Coat Of Arms

Here is an animated coat of arms I put together for J.E.H. Designs, inspired by the one on the Dave tv channel.  3D elements were made in 3DS max and Element 3D. I also used some items from Rampant Design Tools Motion Designs pack and Text Backs for the background.
