The 20 Progress Wrestler Animations

Here are some stills of the 20 animations I did for This is Progress.  Each animation was designed for the wrestlers entrances and are only about 12 seconds long.  I wanted to make each one as different as I could.  Luckily the wrestlers either have their own theme or I could draw inspiration from their name or nickname.

I enjoyed making all of them, ones that stand out for me are – Eddie Dennis because I animated a dragon using the puppet tool, Mark Andrews because of the jet fly-by and putting “White Lightning” on the jet, Swords of Essex for modeling the swords in 3ds max, and Noam Dar because I think the final look turned out better than I thought it would.

Plugins that I used were Element 3D, Trapcode Particular, Shine, and Starglow, and Optical Flares.

FPW Reloaded 3.0 Trailer + What’s Occurring Eps

Here is the trailer for Future Pro Wrestling’s Reloaded 3.0 event which is on 9/2/14, plus the What’s Occurring Episodes.

As the event theme is based on The Matrix films, Trapcode Particular was used a lot for the raining code.  I also used it as a custom texture for the future city buildings in Element 3D.

Some of My Favourite Things on JEH Designs in 2013

2013

The 1st video of 2013 was Juice in a can.  An animation for a fake juice drink, which was fun to create and has one of my favourite bits of animation with the fruit going into the can and exploding.

In 2013 I made my 2nd tutorial – Element 3D Transitions.  It was fun to make and still getting views so I hope it’s helping those who watch it.

Apps Fall – was my first time using Reactor to simulate falling app pieces.

2013 had a few trailers for Future Pro Wrestling (FPW) which I tried to make each one different from the last, they also contain some of my favourite logo animations.  With a new event in early 2014 I look forward to making a new trailer that will be entertaining to watch and encourage people to go to the event.

E4 ran a new Esting competition in 2013 which I entered but unfortunately didn’t win, but was still pleased with what I made.

I finally got round to making a clip from the short film Hunted which was filmed ages ago!  Maybe in 2014 I can finish the whole short film.

2013 wasn’t just animation I did make some still pictures too.

Quotes with TypeMonkey

A quick and simple kinetic typography animation of some quotes using TypeMonkey.  TypeMonkey makes it easy and fun to make these types of animations.  I hope to do more of these animations and to experiment with TypeMonkey a bit more.

FPW Trick or Treat 3 Trailer

This is the trailer for Future Pro Wrestling’s next event – Trick or Treat 3.

It was a bit rushed and I would of liked to have added some extra bits but didn’t have the time.  It still looks ok and has a Halloween feel to it.

The names of the wrestlers sequence was created in 3ds max, which I also rendered out a z-depth pass that I used in After Effects to control a rack focus.  A reversed space flight preset of Particular was used for a quick dust element.

Hunted short film clip

This is a clip from the short film Hunted.  The short film is a chase that starts in space and continues on an alien forest planet.  In the clip the lead character is being hunted by two Hunter Droids that have been sent after her by her pursuer on the alien forest planet.

The short film was shot a while ago now and I’ve been working on it at spare moments, when I’ve figured out how to do certain effects and the best ways to do things that I wasn’t sure about before.  It’s an ongoing project that I want to look  as good as I can make it.  Even though this clip is finished I will probably make adjustments and tweeks to it when it’s time to fit it into the rest of the film, as I think there is still room for improvement.

Future Pro Wrestling Schools In Trailer

I found some old footage of a class room watching an instruction film, some footage of  wrestling at the New York Athletic Club in 1905, so I decided to put the two together and base the trailer around them.

Ancient Logo Discovery

Ancient Logo Discovery animation modeled with Element 3D and 3DS Max.  The hieroglyph normal texture was created with Element 3D inside of After Effects.  Everything apart from the pillars was done with Element 3D which were modeled in 3DS Max.  I added some clips at the beginning and end from Rampant Design Tools – Film Clutter pack to add to the look of old film.
